Long Time, No Update

Yes, I know. I'm bad.
But I hope this entry and the next couple in the coming days will make up for it.

Last weekend Sarah and I went up to Santa Barbara for our engagement session photo's which can be viewed here. (If the slideshow is too quick, or you want to go back and look at more, just click the 'Browse Gallery View' Button in the bottom right corner of the player.)
It was so much fun. We stayed in a hotel off of State Street, which is the main street in town. There are a lot of cool shops and restaurants to go to and the feel is very nice - like a downtown, with more hippies and less smog.

At this point we have most everything completed, in terms of ceremony and reception. We picked up our invitations this last week and we'll be sending them out to all you pretty quick here. Remember the wedding is September 15th.

Sarah and I went to our jeweler yesterday to look at wedding bands. I really like what Sarah picked out. She's going to have small diamonds inserted into the side's of her solitaire and then have another band with diamonds along the top third of the ring. Very pretty. As for me, I'm going with a yellow gold band, it's hammered along the center and then bevels on the edges where it's polished. I'm pretty excited to wear it.

Other things we're still working on are getting together a block of hotel rooms for out of town family, music for our processional and recessional, meeting up with our wedding coordinator to make final decisions. If you have any questions at all, send me an email at jglyer@gmail.com

Okay, so we sent in the deposit and the contract to the band and the photographer and we've decided on the flowers. Flowers...are...expensive. I'm totally blown away.
Anyways, it should look gorgeous. The one little flourish that I had envisioned with flowers turns out to be an extra $400. I think I'll pass.

Wedding Dress

YAY! I got my wedding dress! Its so pretty. Well, I don't actually have it yet, its on its way. Its an Oleg Cassini gown so it takes longer to get in. It is an ivory A-line gown. And as long as I don't loose or gain any weight I wont need to have it altered at all! :)

Other than that, everything seems to be falling in to place so nicely. I'm so excited!! I can't wait to be married :)

I sent out an email to the fam, letting them know but I totally forgot to make a post about this.

The wedding date was indeed bumped up, but 2 weeks.
The date is September 15th.

Church, Band, Photos

Well Sarah and I have settled on a location for the ceremony. St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fullerton.
We like it alot, it has a certain feel to it and it's really close to everything so it's conveniant to boot. They're holding the date for us, but there are some details that we need to work out with them before it's a full go.

Secondly, Sarah and I have opted for a live band in lieu of a DJ. We wanted to go for a more unique feel for the event, instead of just another crazy dance party reception (those are fun, don't get me wrong, but we're going for something else). The band is The Ernie Halter Quintet. There's a video you can watch on that site, I found them to be extremely talented and I'm really excited to have them at our reception.

Last night, Sarah and I met with a potential photographer, Jefferson Todd, or JT as we know him. He is the best friend of one my Biola gang of friends, so we have a link there. Meeting with him and going through his work and some ideas that he had really gave me a good vibe. I'm leaning strongly towards having him as our photographer. There is, however, the cost factor. He's on my guest list anyways, so we'll see.

Last week Sarah bought her dress, but I think I'll let her post about that.

Honeymoon

YAY! We have a honeymoon!

We are going to Paris for a week! I'm so excited! My sister-in-law and I are going to go shopping for some wonderful Paris outfits! :) Our inspiration will be from Sex and the City Season Six (When Carrie goes to Paris) Yeah, I will be stylish!

Wedding Gowns!!!

I went wedding gown shopping/trying on with my mom today!!! It was so so fun. I found a beautiful dress that just might be "the one". It is a Maggie Sottero gown, A-line... thats all I'm going to say because Jon isn't allowed to have even the slightest idea of what it looks like!

Anyway, I am going to go to another store in a week or two, I was too scared to make my decision today. It was only my first time after all!

I really really liked this one dress! The first time I put it on I LOVED it, and then the attendant went and got a veil for me to try on and it just totally made the outfit! I looked so pretty :) :)

I did try on about six other dresses, and then I tried on the Maggie Sottero one again, and I kept it on for a while and looked at it and walked around and was so happy in my beautiful dress! Well, its not mine, but it might be! :)

Coming Together

Honeymoon's and Reception Site's

Sarah and I had some good discussion about our honeymoon the other night. We have been blessed with the use of my parents time share with Marriot which can be traded in anywhere in the world. As such, we've been having a good time looking through the catalog at different destinations and we're looking very favorably on the Paris area. ;)

Still working that out.

As for a site, we'll just have to wait till after the holidays so that we can go look at a couple locations.
Last week we went to the Summit House in Fullerton to look at their facilities as a potential reception site. It's really nice, on top of a hill, view of the city lights. It has lots of promise.

The Date

Now that finals week is officially over and graduation is less than two days away, Sarah and I started talking about wedding arrangements and have decided on a date.

September 29th.

Rolls off the tongue, fits our schedule, a good time of year. We both think it's a good choice.
We have also selected our attendants but Sarah and I want to ask each of them in a special way. Once they know, we'll post up here.

Hello. I really do exist, too! I'm Sarah and I am so excited to be getting married!!! YAY. :)
Well, my ring is beautiful and my fiance is absolutely the hottest guy on earth.

First Post

On Saturday November 26 Jonathan Glyer (that's me) asked the beautiful Sarah Anglado to be his wife.
I don't know what she was thinking but she said yes and has therefore set herself on the path towards joining the Glyer Clan.

This blog will chronicle our engagement, wedding and marriage. Please enjoy.

My brother in law Justin took a bunch of pictures of us during our time in Seattle over that weekend and I will post links to photo's as soon as possible.

We have yet to settle on a date for our wedding, but we'll be sure to let everyone know as soon as we know.
